1. TxDOT to transform I-45 corridor north to Conroe

The Texas Department of Transportation is planning how to improve I-45 from Beltway 8 North to South Loop 336 in Conroe as the corridor sees more traffic.
Discussion began with a series of public meetings that started in 2019 on how to improve safety and mobility along the corridor. The Planning and Environmental Linkages Study is in Phase 2, which includes conducting a series of public community meetings—including an initial meeting held Jan. 17 at Oak Ridge High School in south Montgomery County.

8. Gringo’s Mexican Kitchen opens its doors in Conroe

Gringo’s Mexican Kitchen opened a new location in Conroe, Chief Marketing Officer Heather McKeon said via email. The restaurant offers customers a variety of Tex-Mex dishes, such as fajitas, enchiladas and tacos, McKeon said.
9. 850 more homes coming to Conroe as Cielo breaks ground

The Signorelli Co. is bringing more than 850 homes to Conroe with the April 26 groundbreaking of Cielo, a 256-acre single-family community. Located off Airport Road, the first homesites are expected to be available in late 2023.
