Montgomery Autism Center, a subsidiary of Aggieland Autism Center in College Station, will begin offering tours May 1 at its new space located at 22985 Hwy. 105, Montgomery, owner and Clinical Director Lynn Hawkins said. Consultations and tours are available to families by appointment.

Montgomery Autism Center provides applied behavior analysis, working with children diagnosed with autism to communicate better, play and develop social skills, Hawkins said. The center works with children ages birth through age 8 and enrolls children age 7 and younger.

“We’re just wanting to serve families," Hawkins said. "[1 in 54] have autism. So there’s many kiddos in the community who are going to have autism, and we have a service that really enriches their lives.”

The Montgomery center will include a highly trained staff and offer motivational activities for children to learn through playing, such as a bounce house, water slide, power Jeep, bikes and other equipment.

Hawkins said she can serve about 15-16 children in the home-like environment, and children will have space to learn through playing indoors and outdoors on the 5-acre property.

“We’re excited about starting up a new adventure with Montgomery, and it means that kiddos are going to be able to reach their full potential; they’re going to be able to learn and be social," she said. “It’s really exciting to be able to open up their little world."
