When Cara McCollum’s daughters Molly and Madi were in high school, she said they would say frequently, “We have nothing to wear.” So Cara said after having previously owned a boutique, it made sense to open one of their own.

The three opened Grace Goods Boutique in Willis in August 2021.

Madi, a freshman at Blinn College, said the most rewarding part about running the boutique is having something they can all do together as a family. Molly is a sophomore at Willis High School.

The boutique offers shirts, hoodies and jackets as well as dresses and boots.

The location also offers limited men’s clothing, such as button-down dress shirts.“We try to make it a style that everybody can find something,” Cara said.

Cara said sizing ranges from extra small to plus sizes.

To grow the business, Cara said the business has launched a Grace Girls program where high school girls who share social media posts will receive store-based currency called “grace bucks” to purchase items from the boutique.

“We realized just recently, a lot of people still have no idea we are here,” Cara said. “They will drive by every day but don’t [notice the boutique], so this year our goal is just to get the word out [about the business].”

As the business is located next to a gas station, Cara said she learned the boutique was being referred to as “gas station Gucci.”

So, the mother-daughter team said they decided to take the name-calling and brand it. As such, the boutique sells a green hoodie that reads “#GasstationGucci” on the front and “grace over grudges” on the back.

“So instead of getting our feelings hurt and being all bitter, we were just like, ‘Let’s make money off of this,’” Cara said. “Always choose grace, always choose to do the right thing and what’s right by God, and that will get you a lot of places.”
