Satori Sanctuaries promotes healthy living on the land that has been a family retreat since 1969, when owner Shannon Quinn’s grandparents began camping there. Quinn said she uses the land and her experience with chronic pain and migraines to promote wellness at the spa, school, farm and garden in Conroe.

While Quinn started the sanctuary in 2014, the barn and house on the property were built by Quinn’s father prior to 1978. Quinn still lives on the property with her family and father, she said.

The business began with gardening classes, but Quinn said she quickly realized there was more to offer at Satori Sanctuaries.

“It’s much more than just learning how to grow food,” she said. “One of the biggest things I’m passionate about teaching, in addition to being healthy from the inside out, is emotional health.”

Quinn said she attended massage therapy school and is also a certified Texas junior master gardening instructor.

The business offers classes for home-school students and is often booked for adult or family classes on Fridays, Quinn said. Young students can learn about living off the land, emotional and physical wellness, and basic life skills, such as plumbing and changing a tire.

Some classes available to adults include how to make butter, energy and crystal healing workshops, and canning and fermenting. Quinn said the business also plans to add summer camps and offer various types of therapy in a new building under construction called The Sanctuary.

The Sanctuary will be ready near the end of 2022, Quinn said, and will be used for health and wellness classes and therapy sessions.

“I want this to be a place that the community has to come [and] learn,” she said.
