The city of Conroe hosted the 58th annual Go Texan Parade on Feb. 18 with floats, appearances from elected officials and riders on horseback.

The event lasted from 1 p.m.-2:30 p.m. and was presented by the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Houston Metro Go Texan Committee Conroe/Willis/The Woodlands Subcommittee and the Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce as a way to kick off the start of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. The event included sponsored decorative floats, such as Cruising Tiki's and Cheerful Clown. Other performers in the parade included the Lone Star Cowgirls and the Gaited Horses of Texas.

“Celebrating 58 years of the Conroe Go Texan Parade could not have gone off any better,” Council Member Curt Maddux said in a Feb. 18 statement. “Thanks to everyone that helped make this parade a success.”

The streets were filled with hundreds of guests and residents attending the parade. Cherry Birkhead, a guest attending the parade, said her family attends the parade every year.

“I thought the parade this year was just great,” she said.
