Originally named The Carpenter’s Helper, the business opened in 2017 to provide high-tech routing and design capabilities for cabinetry using advanced equipment and software, said Rick Pfahl, one of the investors.
The business is now rebranding to Conroe Fabrication and Woodworks under Callaway, who came on in the last few months. Callaway said he is excited to be a part of a business that he enjoys so much more compared to working in an office environment.Callaway said cabinetry is going to remain the focus of the business.
“We can sit people down in here, and we can design their whole kitchen literally in a couple hours,” Callaway said.
When a customer wants a piece from the workshop, they come in and go through a design process with the staff, according to Callaway. He said the staff uses design software to create a 3D rendering of what the customer wants.
The workshop also strives to make the installation process as “painless” as possible. Callaway said the process from design to installation is about a month long, though installation itself only takes from one to five days.
Carpenter Mac Lea said Conroe Fabrication and Woodworks has technological opportunities most shops in the area lack.
Even as the name and business are changing, Callaway said his love of working with his hands and serving the area will continue to be the foundation of the business.
“You can tell the difference ... when you start a job and then when you do [it] right by a customer,” Callaway said. “I love that. That’s why I’m sticking around.”
