From art shows to live music, local residents can participate in a number of local events this weekend. 1. Conroe Coffee art experience July 28 Every month, Conroe Coffee showcases one artist’s work. The event this month showcases the photography of Gethsemani Ruth, a photojournalist frequent missionary in Zimbabwe. Her photography focus on capturing causes that need more attention. Local live band showcase at Southern Star Brewing Co. July 28 For this week’s Friday night musical showcase, The Caleb Boles Band performs at Southern Star Brewing. The Texas band’s genre is described on the event Facebook page as a mixture of folk, dirty blues and classic country. The taproom opens at 4 p.m., and music starts at 6 p.m. local live band showcase. Guests can purchase $4 beers after purchasing a Southern Star pint glass from 4-10 p.m., or buy a pint glass and beer ticket for $6. 6-9 p.m. Friday. Free (admission).
