Kemah Police Chief and Clear Creek ISD board member Chris Reed has been missing since a Friday afternoon boating accident about 1.5 miles north of the Texas City Dike, according to multiple reports.

Reed went missing around 4:15 p.m. when the Coast Guard said they were notified by Texas City police of a man overboard. The Coast Guard has released a statement clarifying Reed was knocked overboard after a large wake from a passing vessel struck Reed's fishing boat, according to Community Impact Newspaper media partner ABC13.

Helicopters and rescue boat have been looking for Reed, who fell into the water without a life jacket, ABC13 reported. Reed's wife was aboard the boat but did not fall into the water, according to reports.

"The city of Kemah family is keeping Chris's wife and family in our prayers and thoughts. We ask that everyone respect the family's privacy at this time," a Kemah press release reads.
