Organizations will be holding events in the Bay Area to raise awareness about human trafficking in the coming weeks.
In 2020, Texas ranked second in the nation for reported human trafficking cases, according to a Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership news release.
“Spreading knowledge and awareness is a critical factor in the fight against this heinous crime,” the release reads. “Our goal is to educate as many people as possible on this crime happening all around us and put a stop to it!”
The first event will be from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Johnnie Arolfo Civic Center, 400 W. Walker St., League City. The event is being hosted by Mady’s Movement, an organization founded by Nicole Bowie, a League City parent who lost her daughter to human trafficking.
