League City this week will host a town hall meeting for residents to learn more about the next steps to address the city's numerous flooding and drainage problems.
After Hurricane Harvey the city hired engineering firms to conduct six studies of the drainage issues in several subdivisions. Final reports will be shared to give residents an analysis of the issues in each neighborhood and suggested improvements to fix them, according to the release.
The public meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Johnnie Arolfo Civic Center, 400 W. Walker St., League City. The city will discuss what it is doing to protect future developments; what the city has already done to protect existing developments; approaches to addressing regional drainage issues, such as those caused by Clear Creek and Dickinson Bayou; and funding needs and potential sources.
The city has already floated the idea of a
$230 million bond election in May. Up to $120 million could be reserved to address flooding problems, city officials have said.
