Residents who want a more in-depth look into how city government operates can now register for League City Citizen University, according to a press release.

The program, which started in 2015, is designed to “familiarize community members and local business owners with the purpose, processes and structure of the city’s government so they can become active participants in municipal operations,” the release reads.

Classes will be held over a 10-week period from 7-9 p.m. every Thursday starting Oct. 4.

Sessions will include interactive presentations from League City employees about various city services and how residents play a role in shaping League City’s future. Attendees will also be able to visit and tour different city facilities, according to the release.

Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis for any League City resident or business owner who is 18 or older and not an elected official or running for office. To register, call 281-554-1019 or email [email protected].

A background check is required because the university includes a tour of the Public Safety Building, according to the release.
