Editor's note: A previous version of this story attributed Tomball Heights to be a product of Benson Development. Benson Development is not affiliated with the Tomball Heights subdivision.  Tomball City Council members unanimously approved a resolution May 6 authorizing the creation of Public Improvement District No. 9 for a proposed subdivision at the southeast corner of Brown and Quinn roads after no comments were received during the public hearing on the matter. The proposed subdivision, Tomball Heights, is slated for 9.2 acres, according to meeting information. The creation of a PID allows a developer to levy an assessment on homeowners within the PID to fund public infrastructure, reimbursing the developer for certain costs. The levy for the proposed Tomball Heights will fund improvements such as the construction of public utilities, paving, landscaping, signage and other public amenities, according to meeting information. Meeting information estimates homeowners in Tomball Heights will pay about $1,760 per year for 15 years—about an $0.80 tax rate per $100 on a home valued at $220,000. However, council members must approve the assessment amount before it can take effect. Tomball Heights would feature 41 lots, according to meeting information. The development would be located nearby the recently completed Yaupon Trails community, home to 37 lots on Brown Road.
