The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office is building a new substation on Holzwarth Road near I-45 and expects work to be finished by the end of the year.

The new station will be located between a Home Depot and a Lowe's home improvement store.

Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman said the new station will help lower deputy response time in the surrounding area. The new station will be the eighth for the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office, including seven substations and a headquarters building on Cypresswood Drive.

Construction is slated to start within the next three weeks and is expected to take three months, Herman said.

The station will be fully operational a month after construction is completed, he said.

Herman said the constable's office will hire 60 new deputies for the new station.

Municipal Utility District 110, which serves the Cypresswood Drive and I-45 area, is funding the construction of the station to help increase deputy presence in the area, Herman said.
