Part of the project consists of replacing existing above ground drainage ditches with underground storm sewers, curbs and gutters. Katy City Administrator Byron Hebert said the project’s two main purposes are to help lessen traffic congestion as well as to relieve flooding. Periodic road closures may occur during the project, however, city officials plan to maintain access for residents when possible.
