One of three spots on township board contested for electionWith just over two months until early voting begins in The Woodlands Township’s annual board of directors election, just one of the three positions on the ballot this year is contested. As of press time, only Position 6 has more than one candidate who has filed—Ann Snyder and Chuck Meyer.

The other positions—5 and 7—have, as of press time, seen only their incumbents file for re-election. John McMullan, a local attorney, is seeking his second term on the board while Bruce Tough, also a local attorney, is seeking his fourth term on the township board.

Snyder is looking to be elected to the township board for the first time. She serves as CEO of Interfaith of The Woodlands. Snyder will oppose Meyer, who works in financial consulting and in 2012 ran as a Republican for the state House District 36 position. Republican Steve Stockman eventually won the seat.

Potential candidates have until 5 p.m. on Aug. 24 to file for a spot on the ballot for the township board. Candidates can file at the township at 2801 Technology Forest Blvd., from 8:30 a.m. 5 p.m. during business days.

Township directors serve two-year terms and must be 18 years old as of Nov. 3, 2015. They also must have lived in The Woodlands Township boundaries for at least the past six months, been a resident of Texas for 1 year and be a U.S. citizen.

Early voting for the township board begins Oct. 19, and Election Day is Nov. 3.
