Shopping centers at Cypresswood Drive and Stuebner Airline Road owned by Houston-based Retail Properties Group sustained flooding damage during Hurricane Harvey, but many of those businesses have reopened or plan to open in early 2018, RPG President Brad Sondock said. Several businesses, including Rao’s Bakery and Gringo’s Mexican Kitchen, opened in late 2017, and a Bike Barn store opened only two weeks after flooding subsided in the Cypresswood Drive shopping center just south of the intersection with Stuebner Airline Road, Sondock said. Italian restaurant Hasta la Pasta may be open as soon as the end of January, he said. The entire 47,000-square-foot shopping center on the south side of Cypresswood Drive is leased, except for one 1,300-square-foot space, Sondock said. Businesses in the 93,000-square-foot shopping center north of Cypresswood Drive are also getting ready to open. Although the BB&T Bank and Great Clips store will not reopen, a new restaurant may soon be in place where Eden Cafe was formerly located in the shopping center, Sondock said. Several other tenants are completing repairs and expect to open in early 2018. The center includes a five-story office building and anchor businesses Mellow Mushroom and Pet Supermarket. RPG has also purchased an 18,000-square-foot shopping center just north of the shopping center it owns on Stuebner Airline Road where a veterinary office and several other businesses were formerly located. The purchase was made in early 2017, and remodeling is expected to begin later this year. The location will begin preleasing this year, Sondock said. Here are a few businesses that recently opened or will open in early 2018 in the shopping centers at Stuebner Airline Road and Cypresswood Drive: New business opening: Aqua-Tots Swim Schools, 6935 Cypresswood Drive, Ste. A, Spring, opened Jan. 15. Reopening soon: Mellow Mushroom, 16000 Stuebner Airline Road, Spring Pet Supermarket, 16000 Stuebner Airline Road, Spring Hasta la Pasta, 6915 Cypresswood Drive, Spring
