Vatsana Souvannavong has relocated her gourmet kolache and doughnut shop Koala Kolache from 17415 FM 529 to 14502 Spring Cypress Road, Cypress. The grand opening event kicks off June 15-17 with specials featuring one dozen glazed doughnuts for $2.99 and free beer-infused doughnuts for dads on Father’s Day.

The owners of Karma Kolache, an unaffiliated entity, bought the former location on FM 529, according to Souvannavong. She said her new shop would offer newer and better menu items, which would change seasonally.

“We’re often the first faces people see in the morning, and they inspire me to be better,” Souvannavong said. “I love what I do because I put a smile on customers’ faces, and they leave happier than when they arrived.”

Alcohol-infused doughnuts are among the new additions, including craft beer and mint mojito options. Ca Phe Sua Da nitro brew, a Vietnamese iced coffee, will be on tap along with traditional coffee and complimentary fruit-infused water.

Students who bring in straight-A report cards will receive a half dozen doughnuts for free through the Koala Kids initiative. The new Koala Community program allows customers to choose a local charity from a list to which they can donate 10 percent of their bill.
