Light and Tight MediSpa in Richmond takes eyebrows seriously.


“Your eyebrows frame your eyes,” said owner Anna Elmore. “That’s the first thing people are seeing when you make eye contact.”

The spa uses a relatively new technique called microblading to enhance the look of eyebrows. With microblading, a fine blade deposits pigments into the skin, resulting in a fuller, sculpted eyebrow.


“Microblading is a newer service, and it’s blown up over the past three to six months,” Elmore said.


Elmore opened her medical spa on South Mason Road in 2015 after working for years in spas and salons. She has been licensed to work in spas since 1993, but Elmore said she started working in her mother’s hair salon when she was much younger.


“I started answering phones and booking appointments at my family’s salon when I was 11 or 12,” she said.


Before opening the medispa, Elmore trained Life Time Fitness employees on the use of medical spa equipment.


Light and Tight is the first business she has owned, Elmore said.


The spa offers other services, such as skin tightening and injectable fillers.


Another popular service is TriPollar body contouring, in which a radio frequency device uses radio waves to dissolve fat and tighten the skin. The treatment consist of eight weekly sessions that each take about 45 minutes, Elmore said.


“The process produces a warming sensation,” Elmore said. “It feels almost like a hot stone massage.”


In addition to its treatments, Light and Tight sells a line of "cosmeceutical" line of products by retailer Rhonda Allison that include deep penetrating creams that correct problematic skin.


“The best part is helping people feel the best they can about themselves,” she said.
