The latest: The lounge has partnered with Cape Cod Cafe and Italian Cafe to allow in-house food deliveries. Drink pairings will be offered to complement the food. Buy the Glass has noticed that more groups are coming to “disconnect from the screen and connect to each other,” co-owner Eddie Robinson said.

1960 Hope center

What we reported: The nonprofit, which offers the homeless shelter from inclement weather and provides clean restrooms, hot showers, laundry and lunch, opened in October. It also provides mental health services, support groups and life coaches.

The latest: From the time it opened, the facility has procured identification, jobs and places to live for the homeless. “We’re seeing people at different stages of their homelessness, and we’re excited that some are ready to move with on with their lives,” Executive Director Bob Butler said.

What’s next: 1960 Hope Center plans to expand its building space. Additionally, it plans to include overnight hospitality. The facility’s goal is to expand before the winter is over.

Armadillo Escape Room Adventures

What we reported: In October, Armadillo Escape Room Adventures opened in Old Town Spring, offering adventures to those who enjoy interactive problem-solving game experiences. Participants are given a set of puzzles or tasks that will enable the players to escape from the room.

The latest: Armadillo Escape Room Adventures has hosted more parties, gatherings and corporate events since it opened. “We are most excited about creating a place where people could go and have fun with family and friends that was different,” co-owner Brittany Mscisz said.

What’s next: The facility owners plan to offer a third room with a submarine theme, where the crew is prompted by an event that threatens to sink the submarine, and participants have to rescue the crew and the submarine.

Outback Kayak

What we reported: The store moved from Galveston in June to Spring Cypress Road. It sells kayaks, kayak parts and accessories as well as specialty electronics.

The latest: Since it opened, the store has hosted more social events and clubs and has begun working with the American Canoe Association and refers customers there for training. The store has increased its product lines, with product lines such as Yak Attack, NuCanoe and Malibu Kayak.

Sun’s Wholesale Club No. 2

What we reported: Sun’s Wholesale Club opened its second store on FM 1960 in August. The store sells restaurant supplies, appliances and international foods.

The latest: “We’ve had a lot of requests to open one on the north side” of Houston, Sun’s Wholesale Club and shopping center owner Vican Sun said. The center now includes 20 tenants with a capacity to hold 26. A Korean buffet is being built, with an estimated opening by summer. Free memberships to the club are available through January.

Palava-Family Entertainment Center and Party Venue offers a variety of family-friendly activities, including laser tag, miniature golf. Palava also features play areas, party rooms, a cafe and a toy store. The facility also hosts special events and offers parties, field trips and parents’ night out.

The latest: Since October, Palava-Family Entertainment Center and Party Venue began offering a full-service cafe. The cafe serves a wide array of options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu has a variety of in-house freshly prepared soups, salads, sandwiches, panini and stone oven pizzas. Palava also serves Blue Bell ice cream and Illy coffee.

What’s next: During the next six months, Palava-Family Entertainment Center and Party Venue will focus on attracting moms’ groups and home school groups to visit to experience the cafe and activities.
