The nomination process has begun for the 30th annual Small Business of the Year awards hosted by Lone Star College System. All nominations are due
online to the LSC Small Business Development Center Advisory Council by June 30.
Individuals, organizations or businesses can submit nominations, including banks, accounting firms and chambers of commerce. Winners are selected based on leadership, entrepreneurial spirit, business growth and success and meaningful contribution to the community, officials said.
“These entrepreneurs make substantial contributions to the local and regional economy and we look forward to recognizing them for their achievements,” said Michael Yanez, west Houston district retail executive with BBVA Compass, which is sponsoring the event.
Three finalists will be chosen for each of the six college service areas, which will be narrowed down to six winners, one representing each college.
All 18 finalists will be honored at the Small Business of the Year awards banquet in November.
