A locally owned cupcake shop will celebrate its one-year anniversary this summer and plans to expand its offerings, including adding a wedding cake service, a fruit-cobbler-in-a-jar menu and educational meetings for the public.

Oooh La La Elite Cupcakes celebrates its one-year anniversary at 5203 FM 1960, Houston, in July. Owner Elita Fielder said her goal was to create a store where families in the community can gather to enjoy made-from-scratch baked goods.

“My grandmother and my mother took pride in using eggs, flour and butter when they cooked, and this is what I’ve brought to this bakery,” Fielder said.

She also plans to renovate the shop this summer, introducing menu boards, hand-painted wall murals and a kids’ section, along with an anniversary party. In the future, “lunch and learn” sessions will be offered, featuring topics of interest to small business owners. Fielder said she would also like to host movie nights at the shop.

The store offers cupcakes and cake pops for purchase individually and for group orders for parties and special events. Over 50 flavors are available, including red velvet, key lime, apple and peach cobbler, lemon, birthday confetti and traditional chocolate and vanilla. 281-781-7437. www.ooohlalaelitecupcakes.com
