Known for its nitrogen-blasted ice cream, Cocohodo-Sweet Vivian’s in Katy has added numerous new food offerings for its patrons.

“We have our crepes up and running now, and we also have soup and salad recently added to our menu,” owner Charlie Yoo said.

The cafe and ice cream shop opened in June. Yoo said he was just responding to customers’ needs when he decided to add to the menu.

“I am already open at 9 a.m. on Sunday because a lot of people ask for breakfast,” Yoo said. “They’re like, ‘Charlie, 10 o’clock is

brunch and I need to be eating before 10 o’clock, I’m hungry.’”

Groups of school children come to see the nitrogen-blasted ice cream, which is under the Sweet Vivian’s side of Cocohodo as Yoo’s own venture.

“Basically, I have a formula that I make and I shoot it with nitrogen and, by doing that, it allows the ice cream to be creamy and very dense,” Yoo said.

He said he will have groups of 35 children come to see the ice cream being made.

Yoo said he’s hoping to expand.

“Sweet Vivian’s is just a first location,” he said. “This is more of a template store.”
