Since opening in May, the VaughnGage Healthy Aging Center has been working to reach out to the Houston public and spread the word about what they do. As the only licensed adult day center in the Cy-Fair area, the center is filling a void, founder Asheva Phillips said.

“We want both seniors and caregivers to know that they have options  outside of home care, which can be costly, and nursing homes, which can limit independence,” she said.

The center is open from 7 a.m.- 7 p.m. and is open to seniors over the age of 60. Transportation services are available within a 10-mile radius. The 10,000-square-foot center includes activity rooms, a spa room, salon, reflection room, a library and an herb garden. Counseling services target both seniors and caregivers, Phillips said.
