After spending five years in Taiwan, where he met his wife, Logan Murphy decided to start a business inspired by his time in the Eastern Hemisphere.

Logan and his wife, Rupy, opened The Boba Shop in May on FM 2920, where they serve drinks filled with tapioca, or boba that is dipped in brown sugar and honey, and sandwiches.

The couple decided to open in Spring because of the lack of local boba shops, Murphy said.

“We wanted to make our restaurant feel warm, welcoming and a place people would like to come and stay for a couple hours,” he said.

The environment helped the drinkery build a following during the summer that carried it through the slower fall months before business picked back up in the winter, Murphy said.
