Katy-Green Chick-Fil-A Katy's newest Chick-fil-A pays homage to the franchise's history with a heritage-themed design[/caption]

The new 4,877-square-foot Chick-fil-A restaurant at 19303 I-10, set to open June 11 at the intersection of I-10 and Greenhouse Road, will be the first restaurant in the area to feature the company’s new heritage-themed interior design.

"It's a tribute to [the company’s] history," said marketing director Jennifer Pierce. “They tried to pick and choose the traits that represent that time period [when Chick-fil-A was founded].” One heritage-themed feature is a light fixture made of glass Coca-Cola Co. bottles, paying homage to when founder Cathy Truett would sell bottles of the popular soda for a nickel. Another feature chosen to represent Chick-fil-A's history of community involvement is a handcrafted gathering table at the center of the dining room. The table was built by Chris Worley, a woodworker with A Better Way Ministries. "It's a good fit for the community. Katy is all about giving back and getting to know each other, so there's nothing more appropriate than a gathering table,” Pierce said. This is the third freestanding Chick-fil-A franchise operated by Rusty Wylie and Courtney Holmes. They also operate locations on Mason Road and in Cinco Ranch. Wylie and Holmes are the first franchisees in the company to operate three freestanding restaurants. "It was a challenge from one store to two," Holmes said. "It's definitely going to be a challenge from two to three, but it just takes communication and letting each location know we're there for them." Holmes said before the ribbon-cutting event on June 11, they will hold a “first 100” event on June 10 to welcome 100 residents from the Katy area into the building. The first 100 residents to arrive at the restaurant by 6 a.m. will need to show identification printed with a nearby address to gain entrance to the event. "People love coming out to that so much," Holmes said. "People have even camped out for it before [at previous openings].”
