A dream of owning their own business was nearly 10 years in the making for Ronke and Femi Sodeinde. The couple opened All Things Party! in February 2014 to cater to other Cypress residents who need party and event supplies close to home.
"We want to be that convenient location for people in Cypress to pick up party supplies and party favors," Ronke said. "We know Cypress is growing and has the right profile of people to make this a viable business. That's why we decided to take the risk and open this store to provide what we ourselves have often needed."
The Sodeindes moved to Texas from Nigeria in 2001, where they both gained retail experience working for family businesses. Both have master's degrees in business and finance as well. The couple decided to open their business in Cypress since they live in Fairfield and wanted to be close to home. The Sodeindes saw a business opportunity after growing tired of driving across town themselves to get party supplies.
"We had been thinking about opening our own business for seven or eight years, but pinpointing exactly what we wanted to do took 18 months," Ronke said. "We wanted to open in the 77433 or 77429 [ZIP codes] and we liked the look of this center and the demographics."
All Things Party! carries a variety of items for adult and children's birthday parties. Inventory ranges from paper goods to tableware to decorations and balloons, the latter of which is one of the most popular items.
"A lot of the time people come in and don't know what they want, so we give them ideas of how they can do an arrangement or what they can do with balloons," Femi said. "We ask them what they're trying to do and what type of party they're having."
The store also offers several home party rentals, such as a bubble machine, disco lights and a foam machine. The couple also plan to purchase sno cone and cotton candy machines.
The Sodeindes also support local schools and churches by giving them discounts on bulk orders, Ronke said.
During their second year in operation, the Sodeindes plan to continue growing their business while becoming more well-known throughout Cy-Fair.
"Our goal is to carry as much as we can and as many unique products that you won't find at Party City," Femi said.
