"We are doing well—we are thriving," Soyring said. "We still have our clientele, but [road construction] has slowed things up a little bit."
The store, which opened at its original location along Nichols Sawmill Road in May 2009, offers professional dog grooming; shampoo treatments; teeth brushing; and a pet boutique with toys, treats and clothing, including college and professional sports team apparel.
Soyring and her two other groomers, Brenda Book and Katelyn Grissom, service a high volume of clientele.
"If all three of us have a full schedule, we could [service] 20 dogs a day," Soyring said.
Canine Designs offers gift certificates, and grooming starts at $35 for small dogs, although prices vary depending on the breed, size and coat condition. Soyring no longer accepts new clients with cats because she has no employees trained to handle the animals, which tend to be tempermental during grooming sessions.
"Most of the time, people are bringing [cats] to me because they can't brush them," Soyring said. "For right now, I'm not taking any new cats."
The increased holiday flow of customers has helped offset some of the negative effects of road construction on the business, Soyring said.
While she plans to expand the business' services in the future, for now she is helping her long-time customers become adjusted to her new location.
"We're here, but people still want us back on Nichols Sawmill [Road], so I don't know if [FM 1774] is going to be our permanent home," she said.
