During the May 19 College Station ISD school board meeting, the district gave updates regarding construction projects at its various campuses.
What you need to know
College Station ISD is currently undertaking five major construction projects for school improvements and expansions, including work on two high schools and one elementary school, career and technical education expansions, and improvements to stadiums across the district. Funds are directed out of the 2023 and 2024 bonds.

A&M Consolidated High School: over 50,000 square feet of space added to the first and second floors, brand new facilities
College Station High School: more than 100,000 square feet added, including new facilities, classrooms and repairs
Rock Prairie Elementary School: around 4,000 square feet added with improvements and updates to infrastructure
CTE Phase 2: various additions and updates that focus on career and technical education
Stadiums: various additions and improvements made to recreational stadiums

These improvements are courtesy of the 2023 and 2024 bonds, which passed for $299 million and $53.47 million, respectively. The 2023 bond included general district-wide improvements along with technology upgrades, and the 2024 bond was more centered on sporting and stadium improvements.
Additions include:
A&M Consolidated: Due to be completed in summer 2026, the campus will have an additional 31,800 square feet on the first floor and 29,315 square feet on the second floor.
According to agenda materials, there will be 16 science labs, four special services rooms, a weight room and a film room. There will also be small improvements made to the black box theater and the cheer room.
College Station HS: Due to be fully completed in December, 100,218 square feet is being added to the school's campus.
New rooms include CTE classrooms and labs, an art classroom, science classrooms and a third gym. It also includes repairs to the roof and locker rooms.
Rock Prairie Elementary: Work is estimated to be finished this summer.
With a little more than 4,000 square feet added, there will be new office spaces, atriums, security fencing, drainage and a new car rider line for more efficient pickup and dropoff.
CTE: All of the CTE additions are to be completed by the end of summer 2026 and will feature additions to multiple schools.
Agenda materials show ag-mechanics, animal science, auto tech, construction, cosmetology, multipurpose arena, vet tech lab and welding programs will all be covered within the project. The project also includes adding a gate, driveway and shade awning.
Stadiums: All of the stadium improvements are set to be completed in August.
Included will be a field house expansion at A&M Consolidated, increased grandstands, a new press box at A&M Consolidated, repairs at College Station HS, press box improvements at College Station HS and digital scoreboards.
The digital scoreboard at College Station HS is working, but the scoreboard at A&M Consolidated will be up and running by the start of the school year.
Notable quote
According to Superintendent of Operations for College Station ISD Josh Symank, during the May 19 meeting's Q&A session, all of the projects are on time and within budget.
“We have plenty of contingency left in our budgets and nothing has gone over,” Symank said. “We feel really confident that we will be able to expand the scope of the projects. Part of that was the aggressive timeline, and the other part was the aggressive price, and right now, we are under everywhere, and we have not gone over.”
