The timeline
The contractor, Queens Constructors, began work July 7 in the designated sidewalks indicated in the below map’s blue section, also known as areas 1 and 4. The estimated completion date for the first phase will be the fall, not including any possible delays from potential inclement weather, according to a July 3 city announcement.
What residents should know
Homeowners directly affected by the city project will receive a letter from city officials, according to the announcement. Residents are also being advised to clear the easement and roadway areas of personal items or vehicles during the repair process.
“This will help to ensure the safety of the workers and allow them to complete the repairs as efficiently as possible,” the announcement reads.
The program will target sidewalk repair and replacement for connections not only within Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County bus stops in the city, but also located in other areas of interest including the recreational center and senior center, according to city officials.
