Officials with the city of West University Place will bring a road panel replacement effort to several sections of Weslayan Street in the city, with work starting March 4.

The details

During construction, the contractor will work on one set of roadway panels at a time to allow vehicles to continue to pass through the work zone. Panels that will be replaced include:
  • The eastern side of Weslayan between Marlowe and Coleridge streets
  • The western side of Weslayan between Coleridge and Tennyson streets
  • The western side of Weslayan between Tennyson Street and Rice Boulevard
A look back

Work earlier in February involved replacing panels along sections of Dartmouth Avenue, Marquette Street, at the corner of West Point Drive and Coleridge Street, and at the corner of Academy Street and University Boulevard.

At a Jan. 22 meeting, members of the West University Place City Council approved an $800,000, two-year contract with TB Concrete Construction for concrete maintenance services related to planned sidewalk and street repairs at various points in the city. As part of the vote, the council approved a budget amendment to transfer $400,000 from its Transportation Improvement Fund to be paired with a previously budgeted $400,000 for the work.

One more thing

City officials are cautioning drivers to expect delays in the work areas. Traffic flaggers will be on-site to direct traffic. Find more information about the work here.
