The completion of a new pedestrian and bicycle bridge was unveiled on Oct. 17 at the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County's Northwest Transit Center.

The big picture

The 14-foot-wide Post Oak Road Pedestrian Bridge crosses over 17 lanes of the Katy Freeway.
  • The project provides a new connection between METRO's transit center to Memorial Park and surrounding neighborhoods, enabling users to cross from one side of the freeway to the other, according to a news release.

METRO board Chair Sanjay Ramabhadran said in a news release that construction for the project began in February 2022.

“It's incredibly satisfying to witness people already benefitting from this bridge to reach their destinations,” Ramabhadran said.
