The city of Bellaire is warning residents to expect increased traffic April 9 during the Bellaire Trolley Run.

Roads along the race path will be closed from 7-9:30 a.m., and drivers are encouraged to look for alternative routes.

The following roads will be closed for the event: Bellaire Boulevard between South Rice Avenue to First Street; South Rice Avenue south of Bellaire Boulevard; and portions of Maple, Ferris and Valerie streets near Bellaire High School.

This year will be the 25th Trolley Run following its cancellation in 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The run is a fundraiser for city parks, trails and natural areas consisting of seven events: a timed and untimed 5K run, a timed and untimed stroller division, a timed wheelchair division, and 1-mile races for both adults and youths.

Registration is required to participate with fees ranging from $20-$32.
