Construction on a project is nearing completion that will improve safety for vehicular and pedestrian traffic on Hillcroft Avenue in Gulfton. The project focuses on three areas: a section of Hillcroft Avenue from Bellaire Boulevard to High Star Drive, the intersection of Hillcroft at High Star Drive and Westward Street, and Westward north to Guflton Street.

Work includes redesigning sections of Hillcroft to allow for bike lanes, widened sidewalks, and new traffic signals and crosswalks.

Timeline: April-winter 2021

Cost: $3.4 million

Funding sources: city of Houston, Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone No. 20
