For the third weekend in a row, the Texas Department of Transportation will close all southbound main lanes of I-69 from Weslayan Street to Chimney Rock Road from 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19.

The work is part of the I-69/610 Loop interchange project, a $259 million redesign of some of the most highly congested highways in the state. Construction on the interchange is expected to last until 2024.

These most recent closures are allowing crews to work on a new Chimney Rock exit ramp.

TxDOT is advising drivers to consider alternate routes and expect delays. Police officers will be on-site to assist with traffic control, according to TxDOT.

Additional road closure information is available at Houston TranStar.
