Bellaire-based nonprofit Second Servings has partnered with longstanding charity recipients Bethel Heavenly Hands, Bread of Life, Community Family Center and Wesley Community Center to expand its meal relief program to more Houstonians, the nonprofit announced in a news release May 11.

Through the program, called “Dinner’s On Us,” approximately 15,000 freshly prepared and frozen meals supplied by Hess Corporation will be distributed through the four sites, with distribution beginning May 13 and 14, according to the release. Every Wednesday, distribution will be held at Bethel Heavenly Hands at 12660 Sandpiper Drive, Houston, from 8 a.m.-noon and at Bread of Life at 1703 Gray St., Houston, from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

On Thursdays, from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Community Family Center at 7524 Ave. E, Houston, will distribute food, and from 9 a.m.-noon, Wesley Community Center at 1235 Lorraine St., Houston, will distribute.

The nonprofit began the program April 9 with an initial target of 10,000 meals every week for hospitality workers; it first expanded the program April 15 to hospitality workers in Galveston before extending the meals to all Houstonians on April 21.

The expansion comes as Second Servings maintains its own drive-thru meal distribution every Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m.-noon at 702 Avenida De Las Americas, Houston.

The program will continue as need and funding persist, according to the release.
