Opened in 1983, the family diner Brisket Bar-B-Q is permanently closing June 5 after 39 years of operating in Bellaire.

"I worked 18 hours a day at first to make it ... it is very sad for me to close," owner Sion Saghian said.

Located on 5208 Bissonnet St., Bellaire, the restaurant is three blocks down from Saghian’s son Michael's New York Eatery, to which some of Brisket Bar-B-Q’s employees and dishes will make the move.

“I wanted to spend more time with my family, I want to travel,” Saghian said.
