Owners of acclaimed Israeli steakhouse Doris Metropolitan will open their elevated bakery concept in Rice Village on June 3.

Badolina Bakery & Cafe will open its bakery doors at 5555 Morningside Drive., Houston, bringing flavor profiles from around the world, including Middle Eastern and Israeli baked goods, sweet and savory pastries, along with specialty sourdoughs, croissants and babkas as well as custom roasted beans for its blended coffee.

Badolina will be operated by the newly formed restaurant group Sof Hospitality, which also houses Doris Metropolitan, and was established as restaurateurs Itai Ben Eli, Sash Kurgan and Itamar Levy began to expand and form new brands, beginning with Badolina, according to a June 2 news release.

Badolina is the brainchild of partner and executive pastry chef Michal Michaeli, who along with culinary director Sash Kurgan have spent more than a year testing recipes and getting feedback from family and friends.

“Badolina is a true reflection of Michal’s talents,” Eli said in a news release. “It’s grand and impossible to showcase through just one segment of our restaurant. We’ve spent a lot of time conceptualizing the bakery and its offerings. It’s a culmination of the team’s experience working in restaurants from all over the world.”

The 1,500-square-foot bakery is designed so customers can pick up their custom cakes and cookies, pastries and breads to-go, with two designated parking spots in front of the bakery for customers. The bakery will eventually neighbor modern Israeli restaurant Hamsa, owned by the same restaurateurs, when it opens later this year. www.badolinabakery.com
