From cycling, pilates and yoga, five new fitness-related businesses opened this year in the Bellaire, Meyerland and West University area.
Epic Cycles: Premium bicycle shop Epic Cycles opened its second Houston location at West University Place’s Plaza in the Park shopping center on Jan. 19. The store offers bikes, accessories and apparel as well as bike maintenance services such as tune-ups.

Plank to Pike Pilates: Modern Pilates studio Plank to Pike Pilates offers open-level classes that blend Pilates-inspired movements with strength training. The studio has a private therapy room where guests can access a cold plunge and an infrared Himalayan salt sauna.

105 Fever: 105 Fever is a yoga studio teaching Bikram yoga. Bikram yoga is a yoga method developed by Bikram Choudhury in the 1970s with yoga sessions performed under hot conditions in order to sweat. Sessions are typically 90 minutes and are guided by instructors in a heated studio.

The Pickleball Spot: This is an indoor pickleball facility that opened near the city of Bellaire. The facility features three indoor pickleball courts and two large skills training areas. The facility also organizes beginners and intermediate tournaments.

House of Core: House of Core is a luxury Pilates studio that offers 12 athletic-style classes such as killercore, an intense ab-focused workout; coresculpt, a full body workout with extra emphasis on arms and core; smokehouse, a 65-minute full body workout, and hot house, a 50-minute Pilates session in a heated studio to promote flexibility and detoxification.
