Officials with Baylor College of Medicine are estimating to open its $100 million medical education and research building, the 503,000-square-foot Lillie and Roy Cullen Tower, in 2026.

Quote of note

Baylor President and CEO Paul Klotman announced in a news release the financial support coming from three different entities, including:
  • $15 million from The Brown Foundation Inc.
  • An additional $16 million from The DeBakey Medical Foundation
  • An additional $10 million from the Sarofim Foundation
“Thanks to tremendous support from the community, we have raised almost $150 million in philanthropy for the new state-of-the-art home for the School of Medicine and School of Health Professions," Klotman said. "Cullen Tower isn’t just an investment in infrastructure, but an investment in the health and well-being of future generations."

Zooming in

Construction is ongoing as part of the first phase of Baylor’s planned Health Sciences Park, an 800,000-square-foot project that will integrate medical education and research environment situated next to patient care at Baylor Medicine and Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center. The campus is adjacent to Texas Medical Center’s Helix Park, a 37-acre project that supports a collaborative mix of health care, life sciences and business.

Helix Park is named for the double-helix-shaped green space traveling through the campus center. Last October, the Collaborative Building opened, which houses researchers with three Texas universities as well as the Texas Medical Center offices. The Dynamic One North Tower also opened.
