Officials with Kelsey-Seybold Clinic announced Nov. 7 plans to build a new 26,000-square-foot clinic at 3003 W. Holcombe Blvd., Houston, near the group's flagship Berthelsen Main Campus. It is slated to open in spring 2023.

Dubbed the West University Clinic, the new office will initially serve as temporary space for staff and physicians from the Berthelsen campus while construction takes place on a renovation and expansion project.

Renovations of Berthelsen—located at 2727 W. Holcombe Blvd., Houston—will be ongoing through 2024, after which the West University Clinic will offer space for up to 13 providers. It will offer primary care for both adult and pediatric patients with plans to add specialists in dermatology.

On-site services will include a laboratory, X-rays and ultrasounds. A Kelsey Pharmacy will also be located on-site.

The new clinic will serve the West University, Braes Heights and Texas Medical Center areas as well as communities in Houston's south-central region, according to a Nov. 7 press release.

“Our new West University Clinic and transformed Berthelsen Main Campus reflect the growing needs of our communities and our vision to keep high-quality care close to home,” said Dr. Tony Lin, chair and CEO of Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, in a statement.

The expansion at the Berthelsen campus, announced in May, will add three stories totaling 18,000 square feet to the existing building. Plans include adding an infusion therapy pharmacy and expanding the ambulatory surgery center with a new operating room and three overnight rooms.
