Harris County Flood Control District will begin maintenance work along the north end of Poor Farm Ditch, between University Boulevard and Bissonnet Street, beginning Aug. 29.

According to an announcement from West University Place, the work will take place over the next few weeks, starting at the south end of University Boulevard and moving north.

What else

The project will start with vegetation maintenance followed by replacing slope paving panels and patching pieces of the slope within the ditch.

West U's Edloe Pathway will be protected from construction equipment with the placement of steel plates along the walking track, according to the city. Fence panels along the pathway will be removed and replaced with temporary fencing to allow crews to access the ditch. During the project, Edloe Pathway will remain open and city officials are encouraging pedestrians to walk safely across any steel plates.

The impact

During project maintenance, Edloe Street will be a rolling work zone and traffic will be reduced to one lane for a small portion of the roadway in order for construction vehicles and equipment to pass. The street closure will only be in effect during work hours and will be reopened daily, according to the city announcement.
