West University City Council approved measures to support the 2023 Chevron Houston Marathon, which will take place Jan. 15 and contains a nearly 2-mile stretch within the city.

The West University portion of the race will take place along University Boulevard between Kirby Drive and Weslayan Street and Weslayan north of University Boulevard.

Roads along the course’s path will be closed between 6:15-11:15 a.m. for participants' safety.

The city will also host the “Marathon Hoopla Station” with a racer refueling station, live band and the annual Mayor’s Marathon Breakfast near the 11-mile mark.
