The family-owned restaurant, Old Hickory Inn, has served slow-smoked barbecue dishes in three of its Greater Houston locations since 1963, and by late 2025, renovation and relocation plans are being formalized for its former South Braeswood Boulevard location, according to project registration information from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
What's happening
The project filing indicates the vacant 4,001-square-foot-space on Hillcroft Street, just over a mile away, will be remodeled for the barbecue eatery with an estimated start time of Nov. 30. Construction on the project is estimated to be completed by May 30, 2026.
While restaurant officials announced in March via their social media page that they will be moving to a brand-new spot, property landlord spokesperson Tracy Summer confirmed the expected renovation project at the new location with Community Impact in June. Details are subject to change.
What’s on the menu
For more than three decades of service, customers can expect smoked brisket, pork, chicken, steaks and sandwiches served with in-house dressings, and choose from an array of sides including beans, corn, coleslaw and fried okra.
