A new fast food restaurant has brought the kosher food scene to Houston, opening in Bellaire back in January.

The details

Dave's Crunch House is a fast food restaurant that prides itself in being kosher certified by both the Houston Kashruth Association & Mehadrin Kashrus of Texas.

According to Orthodox Union Kosher, a New York-based kosher certification agency, kosher foods means it's fit or proper to the Jewish dietary law. For example, meat must be from kosher meat and poultry must be slaughtered in a way that causes instantaneous death with no pain to the animal, a practice known as shechita.

What's on the menu

Dave's Crunch House serves American foods, from blooming onions to crunchy southern fried chicken buckets. The restaurant also serves sandwiches such as schnitzel sandwiches and even Philly cheesesteaks that use vegan cheese, in accordance to kosher, as meats and dairy products cannot be eaten together.
