A representative with Cava confirmed Feb. 18 with Community Impact that a new location of the popular Mediterranean restaurant is planned for Bellaire.

Cava is a fast-casual restaurant chain that focuses on Mediterranean cuisine. The menu offers build-your-own bowls and pitas where customers can choose between a variety of grains, meats, vegetables and toppings.

Popular items include grilled chicken, falafel and spicy lamb meatballs with options to add brown rice, Crazy Feta, hummus, tzatziki, pita crisps and roasted veggies. Sides include pita chips with red pepper hummus, roasted eggplant or harissa, a Greek spin on a traditional North African spicy chili pepper paste.

Cava officials said while they can confirm the planned location for Bellaire, they cannot confirm an opening timeframe. However, according to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing, construction is expected to start in August on an existing building and wrap up in December.
