Officials with Skeeter's Mesquite Grill announced plans to celebrate the eatery's 35-year anniversary over the April 29-30 weekend, including with an all-day happy hour, and complimentary chips and queso for diners.

The University area location of Skeeter's was opened in 1988 by the Adair family. The name of the restaurant came from the name founder Gary Adair said his great uncle used to call him and his cousins growing up. The restaurant is known for its mesquite grilled burgers, salads and Tex-Mex offerings.

The anniversary celebration will take place at both the original University location at 5529 Weslayan, Houston, as well as at a Kingwood location at 4121 W Lake Houston Parkway, Kingwood. The University celebration will run from 8 a.m.-9 p.m. both days, while the Kingwood event runs from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. April 29 and from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. April 30.

Happy hour discounts during the event include $5 house margaritas, and $1 off beer and wine, according to an April 24 press release.
