Brays Oaks Management District will host a community meeting at 10 a.m. April 30 at the Westbury High School auditorium, 11911 Chimney Rock Road, Houston, to go over the Gasmer Drive redevelopment master plan.

The greenway is a 300-acre network of lakes, prairie, marsh and park amenities along Brays Bayou in southwest Houston. The master plan pertains to 29 acres formerly owned by Shell Oil and acquired by the city of Houston on Oct. 31, 2019. The Brays Oaks Management District was tasked with planning the site’s redevelopment in 2021.

The master plan was produced by Lionheart Places and Natalye Appel and Associates Architects. The site is proposed to house the Levitt Pavilion, an outdoor theater, and significant portions of it will also be used for detention, holding roughly four feet of water during heavy rain events. Other possible plans for the site include pedestrian walkways that connect into Willow Waterhole trails, an outdoor cafe, a skate park, a rentable private event space and an outdoor market space.

The meeting will go over the background, key features and cost. Residents can call 346-516-2955 for more information or visit www.braysoaksmd.org.
