A luxury Pilates studio is set to open in Houston's West University Place neighborhood this winter.

The details

House of Core chose West U for its first franchised location outside of California, according to an Oct. 31 news release. The studio will occupy a 1,600-square-foot space and offer athletic-style classes and advanced equipment—including reformers, chairs and towers—in semi-private suites.

Co-founders Kim Yates and Taylor Hedden said in a statement they want the studio to be a welcoming environment where members and guests can have a private training experience with classes that range from challenging full-body workouts to restorative and rejuvenating sessions.

What to expect

Yates and Hedden aim to make Pilates accessible, impactful, inclusive and empowering for anyone seeking to strengthen their bodies and lifestyle, according to the release.

Each class at House of Core Houston will be capped at eight participants to ensure personalized, one-on-one attention in a small group setting to maximize results. The studio will offer 12 signature classes including:
  • Killercore: an intense ab-focused workout
  • Smokehouse65: an ambitious full body workout with an "extra demanding" 15-minutes of core
  • Hot house: a 50-minute hot Pilates session in a heated studio to promote flexibility and detoxification
The new Pilates collective will offer limited time founding memberships in November, per the release. Introductory single-class pricing starts at $28.

In their own words

Amenities such as curated playlists, accessible on-site parking and "carefully chosen" instructors are meant to round out the House of Core experience.

“Our goal goes beyond building a studio; it’s a lifestyle,” Hedden said in the release. “Wellness can be a transformative force in people’s lives and we are here to provide a unique space where everyone can achieve wellness together in a really supportive community.”
