German-based craft coffee chain Coffee Fellows is branching into the U.S. market for the first time in its 24-year history with the announcement of its flagship store and three other locations in Greater Houston.

"We are excited to bring our European coffee concept to the United States as well as open our first ever drive-thru stores, to better serve American urban communities," CEO Stefan Tewes said in a news release. "We plan to customize our menu offerings to suit American preferences, but guests can anticipate the comfortable, friendly European ambiance our brand is known for and feel confident in the mission of sustainability that is close to our hearts and is part of everything we do."

The details

Officials representing the coffee chain said in an email the flagship store, located at 4900 Bissonnet St., Bellaire, is slated to open on June 14.

• As far as the three other locations, with one in Katy, River Oaks and Houston Heights, only the Katy location can be disclosed since the other two are still in the negotiation process.
• The Katy location will be 3329 W. Grand Parkway N., Ste. 700.
• Estimated opening dates for the three Greater Houston-area locations will be in the late summer or early fall, the news release states.
• Company officials also said their growth plan includes expanding into other markets, including Austin, Dallas and San Antonio, in 2024-25.

Guests to the European coffee house can expect handcrafted coffees, teas, bowls, salads, bagel sandwiches and pastries. Part of the company's mission is sustainability, sourcing and locality with intentions to source local ingredients an incorporate environmentally friendly practices, the news release states.
