The $50 million newly renovated Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center of Houston will host its official dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1:45 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 26.

A host of community members involved with the renovation will be present for the event, including the building design team, staff, partners and donors, according to a news release from ERJCC officials. The day will include crafts, cooking in the new culinary studio, rubber-duck races and book readings. Following the ceremony, an open house will take place at 3 p.m. with activities for families.

The multimillion-dollar renovation and expansion project began in January 2021 and included construction of the new 126,000-square-foot, three-story facility, with 27,000 square feet of renovations to the existing center.

New amenities include five pools, an outdoor patio, an indoor and outdoor fitness center, and meeting spaces. Updates to the property also included making the entire campus handicap accessible. For visitors and members, all facilities at the center will be closed that day from noon-3 p.m. for the dedication ceremony.

The center is located at 5601 Braeswood Blvd., Houston. 713-729-3200. www.ournewj.org
